“Strange Vermilion” 奇丹 – one of the older cliff oolongs (yancha) from the Wu Yi Mountains.
Typically loosely twisted larger leaves with a sweet fruity aroma. The infusion has a sparkling orange color, with an intense smoky-fruity flavor. In later infusions, the smokiness fades, leaving a predominantly fruity character. Within its category, this type of cliff oolong is among the less roasted varieties.
The flavor is full, orchid-like to honeyed, with a long, intensely aromatic, and sweetening aftertaste.
