Ban Pen Sheng Pu’er is a premium Chinese Pu-erh tea from the Bulang Mountains in the Menghai region of Yunnan Province. The ancient Ban Pen tea garden is situated at an altitude of 1,600–1,760 meters, just 2 kilometers from the legendary village of Lao Ban Zhang. Thanks to the high-mountain misty climate, abundant rainfall, and mineral-rich soil, this sheng Pu’er acquires a distinctive depth of flavor, sweetness, and a potent cha qi energy. The tea trees, aged over 100 years, grow in a natural mountain forest amidst bamboo and camphor trees, lending the tea its authentic, wild character.

This sheng Pu’er originates from the first spring harvest of old tea trees. The leaves are processed using the traditional Pu-erh tea-making method: sha qing fixation, rolling, and sun-drying (shai qing). Subsequently, they are steamed and pressed into tea cakes. The tea does not undergo artificial fermentation like shu Pu’er, allowing it to retain its fresh taste, complex aroma, and high potential for long-term aging.

Ban Pen Sheng Pu’er is renowned as a smoother and sweeter alternative to Lao Ban Zhang. The aroma offers elegant notes of orchids, honey, and dried fruit. The flavor is full-bodied, smooth, and silky, featuring the typical returning sweetness known as hui gan. A gentle astringency quickly dissipates, giving way to a long-lasting sweetness. This premium Pu-erh tea yields 15–20 infusions, during which it gradually unfolds further layers of minerality, floral notes, and mountain freshness.

The liquor possesses a bright, light yellow-green to golden color. With progressive aging, this sheng Pu’er develops deeper orange to amber hues typical of high-quality aged Pu-erh teas.
