Long Jing (龙井), also known as Dragon Well, is a world-famous Chinese green tea originating from the West Lake (Xi Hu) region in Zhejiang Province, specifically from Long Jing village. It is one of the most sought-after Chinese green teas thanks to its unique appearance and traditional processing method.
During the early stage of production (Sha Qing), the tea leaves are carefully hand-shaped and flattened in woks heated over wood fire, giving them their characteristic flat and smooth shape.
According to traditional Chinese classification, authentic Long Jing is defined by the “four treasures”: bright green color, rich aroma, balanced taste, and elegant leaf appearance. These qualities make it one of the most highly prized green teas in China.
For the best experience, Long Jing tea is recommended to be brewed in a glass teapot or a tall glass, allowing both its flavor and the visual beauty of the leaves to fully stand out. It is typically brewed with water at around 85°C and should be prepared gently to fully reveal its naturally smooth, delicate, and harmonious aroma.
