The Mengku tea region, located in Yunnan's Shuangjiang County, is widely recognized as one of the original cradles of tea. Standing at altitudes above one thousand meters, the local Daxueshan ("Great Snowy Mountain") massif shelters the most extensive ancient wild tea tree forest in China, with a history spanning over 2,000 years.
